Mom's Recipe for Beef Sandwiches

This recipe is for hot beef sandwiches, and it is THE BEST!!! My Mom, actually, got the recipe from a dear friend, who is no longer with us. The ladies were at Jane's house playing Bridge, and they could smell this wonderful beef cooking the whole time they were there. So, of course, they all had to have the recipe. Mom is still playing in two Bridge clubs. They say it's hard to find a "Fill-in" because no one plays Bridge around here anymore. The ladies in her clubs are all in their 80s and 90s, except Mom, who is still in her 70s. I guess I should learn to play.

1 Beef chuck roast (4 pounds)
1 cup ketchup
1 cup barbecue sauce
4 cups chopped celery
2 cups water
1 cup chopped onion
2 Tbls vinegar
2 Tbls brown sugar
2 Tbls Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp chili powder
1tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
rolls or sandwich buns

Place beef in dutch oven. Combine all remaining ingredients except rolls, of course. Pour over beef. Cover and bake at 350 for 5 hours, turning beef occasionally. Shred beef with a fork. Serve on the rolls or buns.

Well that sounded so delicious I made a copy of the recipe and will definitely be trying that soon!
I have always wanted to try to learn how to play Bridge. I have known many ladies over the years that loved to get together and play and make a real day of it!
Maybe someday....
